Portraiture 

  "My passion for photographing people never ceases.  Capturing the spirit and life force of someone alone and relaxed, with another person or a beloved animal companion, the bond between a mother and child, the quiet wisdom of a grandfather, the exuberant love of a newly engaged couple or the special smiles on the faces of an older couple married for 50 years; the quiet wonder of a young boy with sandy bare feet intently watching a hermit crab, or a little girl singing to her doll on her back porch steps... these are all fleeting - and important - moments in our lives that I'm able to capture and give back to you.

    I specialize in working with women because many of us, unfortunately, tend to be our own worst critics and I like to turn that attitude around.  One of my true missions is to encourage women to celebrate themselves as the beautiful, capable, loved and cherished human beings God sees and created them to be!  Through this gift He has given me, I can prove to each of those women, when she sees her final portraits, that she is uniquely beautiful.  I also feel a love and empathy for them because I wasted many precious years being critical of myself (and therefore, others) until I was finally, once and for all, freed from it.

    Children, of course, are so delightful to work with because they are generally fearless, honest and joyful.  I believe they recognize me as a kindred spirit, so we get along just fine as I simply follow them around and wait for the right moment... and the rewards of waiting are great!  I love kids so much because I'm still one myself... and they recognize that. 

    Basically I enjoy celebrating the relationships we all have:  couples of all ages, families, mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, animal companions ... and even the relationship we have with ourselves as we grow and change.

   A portrait says more about you than any other form of visual communication.  It is the timeless proof of your existence... a moment in your life... and it's also a way of bringing your vitality and your very essence to those who care about you who may be far away...or to your children and grandchildren when you are gone."
